On July 3rd in Baku the reception on the occasion of signing the EU Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine was held

EU member-states’ Ambassadors, Azerbaijani MFA diplomats, MPs and other officials participated in this event.

Ambassador of Ukraine O.Mischenko in his speech stressed that signing the EU Association Agreement was one of the key points of the election campaign of newly elected President of Ukraine Mr. Petro Poroshenko, which had been successfully fulfilled because it was a choice of all Ukrainian people. Ukrainian Maydan has shown that Ukrainian society shares European democratic values and freedoms. The Ukrainian side is aware of difficulties that might appear on the way of Association Agreement implementation but is ready to a hard work.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine draws attention to significant intensification of provocations, shelling and targeted attacks against the Ukrainian armed forces units, which are involved into the counterterrorist operation, by Russia-supported militants. Only over last few days, the shelling of the positions of Ukrainian forces, as well as of the civilian locations, has significantly increased. An assault of the militants' battalion tactical group, with support of heavy armored vehicles, tanks and other military equipment, which took place near Starohnativka on August 10, is an alarming sign of further escalation of the situation.
