Ukraine and Azerbaijan are interested in broadening economic cooperation. It was stated by the President in his statement to media following the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani negotiations.
"We must switch to the long-term planning of our relations, particularly trade-economic relations. This approach will facilitate the saturation of our strategic partnership with maximally concrete sense," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The Head of State stressed the unity of opinions with the President of Azerbaijan in the issues of development and dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries. "We provide a clear signal to our governments that one cannot stop at the current stage," he said adding that it was necessary to improve bilateral relations.
According to the President, trustful and constructive dialogue facilitates the development and enhancement of strategic partnership between Kyiv and Baku. "I am especially pleased to note the atmosphere of mutual understanding in the course of our meetings," Viktor Yanukovych emphasized.
He stressed that the IV Session of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan had summarized the work of the previous period and determined the plans of future bilateral cooperation in the key spheres.
Viktor Yanukovych also noted that he had discussed with Ilham Aliyev the possibility of infrastructural projects implementation.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the decisions approved in the framework of bilateral negations at the highest level would efficiently enhance Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership.
Viktor Yanukovych congratulated Ilham Aliyev on decent victory at presidential elections. "It is a sign of stability and the highest trust of Azerbaijani people," he emphasized.
In his turn, the President of Azerbaijan stressed that Ukraine and Azerbaijan were holding cooperation almost in all spheres.
"Ukraine is a friendly country and a close, reliable and strategic partner for Azerbaijan," Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
"Viktor Fedorovych noted that our opinions coincide. We are friends and partners. I think that our partnership will enter the new stage following this visit," the President of Azerbaijan said.
