“Fight — and you will prevail.
God is helping you!
Truth is on your side, glory is on your side,
And holy freedom!”
Today, on the birthday of the Great Kobzar, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with members of Ukrainian communities and organizations, laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Baku, honoring the memory of the poet whose words became a symbol of the struggle for freedom, dignity, and independence.
As part of the Shevchenko Days, a series of cultural and educational events also took place at the Ukrainian Center in Baku.
In particular, an online “Shevchenko Quiz” was held, bringing together students of the middle group of the “Mriya” Educational Space and the Ukrainian Saturday School in Leeds (United Kingdom).
The younger and senior groups also participated in thematic classes: children recited Taras Shevchenko’s poetry, created their own mini versions of the “Kobzar,” and presented a theatrical performance of the well-known poem “The Cherry Orchard by the House.”
In addition, a literary evening was held, where everyone had the opportunity to read and listen to the poetry of the Great Kobzar.
We remember, we read, we are inspired. Shevchenko’s word still resonates powerfully today — as a reminder of truth, freedom, and the resilience of the Ukrainian spirit.
