Eighty-one years ago, Europe and the entire world achieved peace after the bloodiest war of the 20th century. For Ukraine, this date is not only about victory, but also about the immense price paid in millions of human lives. Every Ukrainian family preserves the memory of the losses and pain caused by that war. Without Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, victory over Nazism would have been impossible.
“Today, Ukraine is once again forced to fight — for freedom, independence, dignity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Our people are confronting a new form of criminal aggression and evil — рашизм.
On this day, together with the team of the Embassy of Ukraine, representatives of the Ukrainian community, and the Union of Disabled Persons, Veterans and Families of the Fallen of Azerbaijan, we laid flowers at the Memorial Wall and honored those who perished during the Second World War, as well as Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine.
The memory of the Second World War reminds us that peace is impossible without justice, and freedom requires protection. Today, Ukraine is fighting not only for itself, but also for the shared values of the civilized world.
We remember the past.
We unite for the sake of a just peace and a future without wars,” noted Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev.
