On this day, we honour the courage, bravery and heroism of all those who defend Ukraine, its freedom, independence and territorial integrity against Russian aggression.

Today, a solemn ceremony was held to raise the State Flag of Ukraine to the sound of the National Anthem of Ukraine, with the participation of the Embassy team led by the Ambassador of Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Yuriy Husyev.

With a minute of silence, we honoured the memory of the Ukrainian Heroes who gave their lives defending Ukraine, our people, freedom and sovereignty.

During the ceremony, the family of a fallen Defender of Ukraine was presented with a state award of the President of Ukraine — the Medal “For Courage”, 3rd Class.

“We will never forget those who gave the most precious thing — their own lives — for the sake of Ukraine. The feat of our Heroes will forever remain in the history of the Ukrainian state and in the hearts of every Ukrainian. It is our duty to remember our Heroes and to do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine remains free, independent and strong,” said Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev.

The Ambassador of Ukraine also expressed his sincere gratitude to Ukrainian service members, veterans, the families of fallen Defenders and Defendresses, as well as to everyone who contributes every day to bringing a just peace closer.
