At Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the children were welcomed by Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev, Əlibala Məhərrəmzadə, Chair of the Azerbaijan–Ukraine Interparliamentary Relations Working Group and Member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, as well as Parviz Safarov, Deputy Chairman of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
All of the children are internally displaced persons who witnessed firsthand the horrors of the Russian occupation of their hometown. Among them are children of active-duty servicemembers, combat veterans, and defenders of Ukraine who were released from Russian captivity.
Over the coming days, they will spend time in the picturesque city of Gabala, where they will have an opportunity to recover, enjoy the beauty of the mountain landscape, and experience the genuine care and hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.
The trip was organized with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 624 Ukrainian children have already undergone rehabilitation and recovery programs in Azerbaijan, experiencing the sincere support, care, and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people.
💬 “We are sincerely grateful to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan, and to everyone who is helping Ukrainian children during this difficult time. This is a true demonstration of humanity, friendship, and support between our nations,” said Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev.
