As part of the Global Baku Forum, an important discussion titled “Ukraine: From War to Peace” took place today, focusing on the security challenges faced by Europe and the world as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev, together with Latvian politician, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Latvia in 2010–2014 and 2019–2022, Artis Pabriks, discussed key issues of European and global security, the consequences of the war for the international order, and ways to achieve a just and lasting peace. The discussion was moderated by well-known correspondent Jaffar Hasnain.
The participants emphasized that Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine is not only a war against one state, but also a challenge to the entire system of international law and global security. Russia continues to shell Ukrainian cities daily, killing civilians and destroying critical infrastructure.
Therefore, the international community must act more decisively: strengthen political, economic, and sanctions pressure on Russia, reinforce support for Ukraine, and work together to restore justice and ensure accountability for the crimes committed.
Peace in Europe is impossible without the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, adherence to international law, and security guarantees for future generations.
The discussion on the sidelines of the Global Baku Forum, which is successfully organized annually by the team of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center led by Rovshan Muradov, once again confirmed that support for Ukraine remains a key element in safeguarding stability and democratic values in Europe and worldwide.
The Ambassador also expressed sincere gratitude to all international partners for their support of Ukraine and our struggle for freedom and independence.
