Today, on the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Husyev, together with diplomats of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan and a Member of the Parliament — Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Alibala Magerramzade, honored the shared historical heritage of our nations.
On this occasion, flowers were laid at the Memorial Plaque commemorating the first diplomatic mission of the Ukrainian People’s Republic to the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1919–1920).
Our countries share deep historical roots in Ukrainian–Azerbaijani relations, which were shaped during the period of Ukraine’s liberation struggle and the formation of Azerbaijani statehood.
The memory of these first diplomatic contacts serves as a strong foundation for the modern strategic partnership between our states and as a source of mutual respect and trust.
Once again, we sincerely thank Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people for their unwavering support of Ukraine, solidarity in difficult times, and consistent contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation.
Together, we strengthen a friendship tested by history.
