The children were welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku by the team of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chair of the Azerbaijan–Ukraine Interparliamentary Relations Working Group and Member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Alibala Maharramzade, as well as Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vugar Mammadov.

All of these children are the sons and daughters of Ukrainian rescuers. Their parents are true heroes without weapons, who risk their own lives every day to deal with the aftermath of Russian attacks, clear the rubble of destroyed buildings, extinguish fires, evacuate civilians, save children and adults, and are the first to respond after each new attack by the Russian Federation. Thanks to their courage and selfless dedication, thousands of lives have been saved.

Over the coming days, the children will stay in the picturesque city of Gabala, where they will have the opportunity to regain their strength, enjoy the beauty of the mountain landscape, and experience the sincere care and hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.

The visit has been organized with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, a total of 662 Ukrainian children have undergone rehabilitation and recuperation in Azerbaijan. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, 190 children have already benefited from this initiative, experiencing the genuine support, care, and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people.

We sincerely thank the leadership and the people of Azerbaijan, as well as everyone who is helping Ukrainian children during this difficult time. This is a true manifestation of friendship and solidarity between our two nations.
