Today, on the Day of Statehood of Ukraine, a roundtable discussion took place in Baku on the topic: “Security Challenges and Prospects for Cooperation in the Black Sea Region,” organized by the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
From the Ukrainian side, the discussion included Oleksandr Bohomolov, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS), and Kostyantyn Voitovskyi, Deputy Director of a NISS department. From the Azerbaijani side — Farid Shafiyev, Head of the AIR Center; Fariz Ismayilzade, Member of the Milli Majlis and Vice-Rector of ADA University; former Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Eynulla Madatly; Shahmar Hajiyev, Director of an AIR Center department; as well as representatives of analytical centers and scientific organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the roundtable, security challenges in the Black Sea–Caspian region amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine were discussed, along with prospects for cooperation and deepening of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, including in the context of cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States, development of the Middle Corridor, and strengthening the resilience of our countries.
Ukraine’s Ambassador Yuriy Husyev, in his speech, outlined current global and regional security challenges, the necessity to increase international pressure on Russia to achieve a just peace, thanked Azerbaijan for its humanitarian aid and support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and emphasized that holding this event is important for mutual support, exchange of experience, and expanding dialogue between the analytical and academic circles of our countries.
